Events Are Indeed Cowards

I'm reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, and last night this quote leapt out at me from an otherwise unassuming page 13:

"It was a Friday afternoon.  Richard had noticed that events were cowards: they didn't occur singly, but instead would run in packs and leap out at him all at once."

Ain't that the truth...and fitting too, as it happens to be Friday afternoon.
